Completely by accident or providence (it quite literally jumped out of a bookshelf that was being moved), we've come across the account of a little known French naturalist who in 1860, set out to discover the source of a river which strangely, local legend said grew wider the further up it you travelled. After enduring the mosquitos and alligators of the tropical swamps along its course, high in the mountains in a steep sided valley capped by clouds, he stumbled across an ancient site which he simply called 'The Dead City', with a large pyramid at its centre.
Wondering which site this actually was, we checked our reference sources but to our utter amazement, found that there was nothing on the modern record in this vicinity at all. Was he just embellishing his story or rather more tantalisingly, is there a major archeological discovery out there (in what is still very remote territory) that is just waiting for us to find once again ?
Using the most detailed maps available, step by step using his description of the natural terrain and features, we've been able to retrace his epic journey to a point within two days walk of its supposed location. On our way to it, we'll be checking out other well known pyramid sites and once again, will be posting progress reports via the internet. We'd be delighted if you'd like to travel along with us as we bring you the sights and sounds of -
"Searching for The Dead City"
Good Luck and be careful!
Best Wishes and a safe journey
